DDG, a design agency based in Taiwan, requested to create 3D visuals for their client, PAILUNG, a leading Taiwanese knitting machine manufacturer. The project's objective was to develop twelve activewear designs for both men and women, showcasing PAILUNG's unique double-sided fabrics produced by their innovative AlterKnit knitting machine. In addition to the 3D visuals, I was tasked with creating a comprehensive tech pack for each design. This was necessary as PAILUNG intended to produce actual garments to better showcase their fabrics. Both the 3D visuals and the physical garments were to be featured at PAILUNG's exhibit during ITMA Milan 2023.
The primary challenge of this project was to create appropriate designs that would optimally showcase each fabric's unique properties. This required a deep understanding of the material characteristics and how they could be best utilized in activewear applications. This project exemplifies the intersection of innovative textile technology and creative design, demonstrating how collaboration between design agencies and manufacturing companies can lead to compelling product presentations in the competitive textile industry.
